The Multitasking Myth and How Passion is Connected to Legacy

What you want to pass on to the people around you should drive your passion.

🤔 INTERESTING

Staying busy vs being productive.

If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, I’d highly recommend Cal Newport’s book, “Deep Work Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World.” It’s changed the way I think about how to work on projects.

📐 DESIGN

A question from a student in my course:
How do you build a consistent looking brand from visual to visual?

I wish I had a good hack…but it took me some time. Below are my first 50ish visuals I ever posted.

When I first started, I did my best to actually avoid worrying about style or consistency (as you might be able to tell from the images below). But a funny thing happened after doing it for a couple months…I started getting messages saying specifically how they liked my style! 🤯

And surprisingly, around mid-July 2022 (about 4 months and 50+ visuals after I started), you can see the style I use today emerging out of the pack.

The lesson?

In the beginning, it’s more important to make stuff to see what you like and what’s working. Style inevitably emerges (whether you mean to or not 😅) and it evolves with your practice.

Style is more than just colors and fonts. It’s about voice and the kinds of messages you hope to portray.
