Last week, thanks to supporters like you, I had the privilege of running a 90min workshop at SXSW EDU called “Teaching with Visual Thinking” in Austin, TX!

The energy in the room was electric!
Speaking to a group of educators was super meaningful. Attendees came up throughout the rest of the conference to say things like this:
But here's the thing. I almost didn't go for it.
When I first decided to speak at SXSW, I had a choice:
Option 1: 20min presentation (done it before, better odds of getting in)
Option 2: 90min workshop (4X the prep! Harder to get in)
The cohort course I teach is 3 weeks long. Choosing option 2 would mean distilling 9-hours of lessons into 90 minutes! I wasn't ready for that.
Which was exactly why I knew I had to do it.
Truth is I've spent a large part of my life waiting. Thinking if I prepped enough, I'd finally feel "ready."
It wasn't until my 40s that I finally realized the problem with thinking your way to "ready" is you don't know what you don't know. No amount of prep changes that.
Every success I've had over the last 4 years of my creator journey has come from flipping the script: Do first, ready last.
So learn as you go. Just in time. It's scary, sloppy, and uncomfortable. And you have to be willing to look foolish while you figure it out. But it’s far better than the alternative:
Spending your whole life in the waiting room.

🤓 WHAT I’M READING NOW
I picked up "The World According to Mister Rogers: Important Things to Remember" recently. It’s not a long book, but every few pages, I had to stop and sit with something. You can feel the love and patience in each of the short excepts of approaches to the challenges we all face in life. When I finished the book I felt as if I was given a warm hug around my soul. I share a few of my favorite insights here in this post.
